Hello, friends. I am doing a fundraiser through Reeds of Hope for a child I know who needs help. When I visited DRC twice this year to work with our staff, I hired a translator. My translator named Achille told me about his 5 year old son. His son is named Samuel. About one year ago, he got an infection on the inside of his right elbow. For a year he has been in pain and has been experiencing a lot of swelling, so his parents took him to a local doctor a few times.  Because they are a poor family, they didn’t always have money to take him back to the doctor.  In the beginning of this year, after being able to give him some antibiotics, they took him to another doctor who took an x-ray. This information, combined with the consultation of doctors at HEAL Africa, whom I was able to get in touch with, has uncovered that he has osteomyelitis and will need surgery and an extensive treatment of antibiotics. He can be treated at HEAL Africa's facilities in Goma, DRC, but this will mean his father Achille will need to travel with him a long distance and stay there with him for many weeks to ensure he gets all the care he needs. We are trying to raise $2,000 for the travel, surgery, and food and necessities on their journey. Thank you so much for your help!
